• Non-Gears > Sprocket Wheels
Sprocket wheel is similar to Gears but functions much differently. Sprocket wheels are toothed wheels designed to engage with a chain, belt or any other perforated or indented material. The tooth profile is not involute profile as in Gears and sprockets are never mesh together. Sprockets are widely used in automobile and other machinery where gears are unsuitable to impart linear motion to a track. Despite the functional difference between gears, Sprocket wheels can be easily manufacturing the same as Gears given the cutting tools have the right design of profile.
